How much do fascias and soffits cost in Chesterfield?

Checkatrade prices by the number of sides of the house that need work. Kalsi’s totals add up materials, labour and scaffolding, and cover fascia, soffit and guttering together. Book a Builder (2026) gives £1,200 to £2,500 for a full uPVC fascia and soffit replacement. Chesterfield and Bolsover have a much higher share of semi-detached and terraced home sales than other areas (Chesterfield and Bolsover Local Housing Needs Assessment), so start with those rows.

Scaffolding is the biggest extra. A bungalow may not need it at all. Kalsi Plastics (2026) puts scaffolding for a bungalow at £0 to £400.
Is capping cheaper than replacing?
Capping fits new covers over fascia boards that are still sound. FixMyRoof (2026) averages it at about £50 per metre, and prices capping a semi at £600 to £800 for 6 metres at the front and back.
The saving only makes sense if the boards underneath are firm and dry. Book a Builder (2026) lists fitting new boards over rotten timber as a mistake: it traps moisture, and the decay can spread into the rafters. Our capping guide explains how to tell.
How do you compare two quotes?
Checkatrade advises making sure each tradesperson prices the same scope of work. Ask each one:
- Is scaffolding or other access included?
- Are removal and disposal of the old boards included?
- Are vented soffits included, if your roof space needs air?
- Does the price cover repairs to the timber underneath?
A quote that leaves these out can look cheaper than one that includes them.
